Success for O’Connor Motorsport at the Circuit of Ireland Rally

Thursday last seen 21 year old Kevin O’Connor begin his biggest rallying challenge yet as he and codriver Shane Buckley began preparations for the Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally.

On the Thursday evening the team done 2 passes over the shakedown stage and immediately Kevin wasn’t confident in the car as he could feel the brake pedal going to the floor. The mechanics worked hard throughout the night to trace the problem to a faulty wheel hub. (more…)

Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland Drivers Prepare for the IRC Circuit of Ireland Easter Challenge

Round two of the Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland 2012, and the crews line up as part of Ireland’s first IRC championship event, with five C2 R2 Max’s scheduled to take the Belfast City Hall start on Good Friday.

Having won the opening West Cork round, Limerick’s Kevin O’Connor is starting the Circuit of Ireland for the first time, and is delighted with his first round win. (more…)

The O’Connor Motorsport team finish third in the Circuit of Kerry Rally

Johnny O’Connor and Killarney Co-Driver Gerard Conway brought their RX Racing supported Citroen C2R2 to the finish in Tralee Sunday afternoon, they were both happy and disappointed with their third position.

After the opening Loop they lay 3rd overall, 4 seconds off Christopher Snow and 14 seconds off Junior Rally leader Bernard Foley. John commented in service “Our first run was OK we can shave at least 10 seconds off our time, we just need to find a good rhythm.” (more…)

O’Connor Motorsport Prepare for the Circuit of Kerry Rally this coming weekend

Sunday 1st of April will see the O’Connor Motorsport crew travel to Tralee for Round 2 of the Dunlop National Rally Championship – The 2012 Carlton Hotel Circuit of Kerry Junior Stages Rally. Competitors will charge over the first 6 Stages of the rally and a total of 21 young drivers from all over Ireland have entered this event. (more…)

After a bitterly disappointing first day, which seen the Delta Karting C2 Max plagued by an electrical fault, and with the crew working hard to rectify the problem, which turned out to be a faulty sensor… thankfully due to the hard work by Liam, Steven, Danny, Jack, Gary and John Snr throughout the even,who made it possible for O’Connor Motorsport to finish. Tuesday 12thMarch will see Kevin O’Connor’s 2012 Citroen Racing Trophy Campaign launched at Formula Karting Limerick. Media figures will be given a brief run down on Kevin’s upcoming plans for the 2012 season and they will also be shown his Citroen C2R2 Max Rally car. O’Connor Motorsport have also planned a nice little gift for all media members invited to this launch, which will see them pitted against Kevin in an adrenaline fueled afternoon in the Delta business park! Ferrari unveil their new 730bhp Ferrari F12 Berlinetta at the 2012 Geneva motor show

Ferrari has unveiled their new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta at the 2012 Geneva motor show. The F12 Berlinetta is a replacement for the Ferrari 599. The F12 Berlinetta has a 730bhp version of the 6.3-litre V12 petrol engine, but despite having a larger engine than the 599, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is quicker, lighter and emits less CO2 emissions. There is also a 6 litre engine available that gives off 611bhp, a dual clutch transmission is standard.

Does a 1 litre Ford Focus sound crazy to you?

Well let me assure you there is nothing crazy about this car. The new Ford Focus Ecoboost 1.0 is a tiny 3 cylinder petrol engine that will soon replace the standard Focus 1.6 model.

But don’t be fooled this is no ordinary tiny 1 litre car, the engineers at Ford have included a turbocharger that helps produce the same 123bhp that is seen in Ford’s most powerful non-turbo 1.6. (more…)

Over the last few years, fuel efficiency in a vehicle has become one of the main deciding factors people take into account when deciding what car to buy next. The price of second hand big engine cars, like the BMW 330 petrol and the large heavy Mercedes E-Class have all come down dramatically in price.

This was a result of the change in road tax bands introduced by the government in July 2008 where by your car’s road tax was based on the amount of CO2 emissions your car gives off.  But probably the number one reason why the cost of these cars has come down has been the cost in fuel it takes to keep these tanks on the road.
