The Aston Martin Cygnet , the new small luxury city car launches in April

Aston Martin has finally revealed some information about their small luxury cit ycar the Aston Martin Cygnet, which goes into production this April. Car Compare News did a story on the Cygnet back in October 2010, but today we can finally reveal some of the specs that will be available when it is launched this year.

Drive your car down motorways with your feet up while surfing the web and drinking a cup of tea

How would you fancy being able to drive down the motorway and  while still being able to look up used cars on Car Compare while also having a cup of tea or coffee? Well thanks to new technology we could see this happen within the next few years.

The term is called “Platooning” which means driving along motorways in tight, electronically-controlled convoys.

The first demonstration of this development was carried out at the Volvo Proving Ground in Sweden by the EU-backed project SARTRE. Their goal is to allow cars to cruise in groups along motorways. The convoys will be lead by a leading car (more…)

Volvo demonstrate the safety of their new electric cars at the Detroit Auto Show

Many people have safety fears regarding new electric cars. With questions like, are these new cars as strong structurally as standard cars? Is it dangerous to have such high voltage batteries and cables under your bonnet in case of collision?

Well at the Detroit Auto Show, Volvo has come up with an unusual approach to answer these questions. The car company have displayed a crashed new Volvo C30 electric car. The reason for this, they claim it to be a  “very visual approach to future safety”.

Ferrari’s in the future will be able to read your mind

Be careful what you are thinking because soon Ferrari’s will be able to read your mind.

Big Brother aka Ferrari could soon unveil their new onboard system that will be able to read the mental and physical state of the driver and change the cars settings accordingly.

The system is in very early development but it uses onboard cameras and sensors to measure the driver’s respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, blink rate and brain activity. From gathering all this information it then determines your stress levels, and alertness and then automatically adjusts the chassis for either (more…)

New car sales up 55% in 2010 bringing an increase of 3,500 jobs within the motor industry.

Statistics released form the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show that 2010 showed a 55% increase in new car sales compared to the previous year.  That’s 88,373 new cars sold in 2010 compared to 39,767 in 2009.

The government scrappage scheme played a huge part in this increase of car sales and it generated an extra €109 million in government revenue and even more importantly their was an increase of 3,500 in the number of people employed in the car industry.

The director-general of the SIMI Alan Nolan said the extension of the scrappage scheme until June 30 this year will mean even more new car sales (more…)
