Honda reduce their new car prices to try and boost their new car sales for 2011

Honda’s car sales in Ireland over the last few years have been falling quite dramatically. One of the main reasons for this is due to the  majority of Honda’s cars are petrol models, and with everyone feeling the pinch of late people are tending to go for new diesel models.

To try and turn their new car sales around for 2011 Honda have revised their pricing on some of their new car models.

New car sales up 55% in 2010 bringing an increase of 3,500 jobs within the motor industry.

Statistics released form the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show that 2010 showed a 55% increase in new car sales compared to the previous year.  That’s 88,373 new cars sold in 2010 compared to 39,767 in 2009.

The government scrappage scheme played a huge part in this increase of car sales and it generated an extra €109 million in government revenue and even more importantly their was an increase of 3,500 in the number of people employed in the car industry.

The director-general of the SIMI Alan Nolan said the extension of the scrappage scheme until June 30 this year will mean even more new car sales (more…)
